Free drop-in playgroups for children under six and whoever brings them, running in five South Frontenac communities — a church hall in Harrowsmith, Trinity United in Verona, the Perth Road hall, Glendower Hall in Godfrey, and the centre on Mill Street in Sydenham.

Free and drop-in for children up to six — no fee, and you don't need to be a member of anything.

An outdoor EarlyON session at Gould Lake with Indigenous programming — the under-sixes outside in the conservation area rather than in a hall.

You can book the ice plus the party room for a birthday — one of the few kid-party options in South Frontenac that doesn't mean driving to Kingston.

There's a pro-shop on site but the hours vary — call Willie Wilson at 613-483-3379 before counting on it for skate sharpening.

Public Skating

Cheap, no-registration ice at the community arena in Godfrey — a single pad with seating for about 350. Two sessions a week from mid-September to the end of March, including a Wednesday morning slot that welcomes parents with strollers right onto the ice.

Schedule: Sundays 12:00–1:20pm (from Sept 13) · Wednesdays 9:00–10:30am

Cost: $4 per person

$4 a person, drop in — no registration, no season commitment.

Sundays noon-1:20pm from September 13, 2026, and Wednesdays 9:00-10:30am.

A CSA-approved helmet with a screen is recommended for everyone, and for the stroller session the wheels have to be clean before they touch the ice.

September 1 is a payment deadline rather than the day sign-ups shut, so it is worth asking rather than assuming you have missed it.

Learn to Skate (Fall Sessions 1 & 2)

Five Saturday mornings on the ice at Frontenac Arena, built for families who want their child confident on skates without signing up to a whole hockey season. Parents are encouraged to come on the ice too. Two sessions run back to back, and if there's room a child can do both. Session 1 has hit its cap of 30; Session 2 is the one to aim for.

Schedule: Saturdays 8:00am at Frontenac Arena · 5 weeks per session

Cost: $75, open to any age

Session 1 reached its 30-registration limit — as of August 22 the club's form was no longer accepting submissions for it. Spots can reopen if registrations go unvalidated, so it is worth re-checking.

Session 1: September 26, October 3, 10, 17 and 24. Session 2: October 31, November 7, 14, 21 and 28. Saturdays at 8:00am — early, but you have the rest of the day back.

$75 for five ice times.

Their website still shows 2024 dates — don't rely on them. Contact the club to confirm this season's registration.

They have a fund to help families who want their child to play but can't manage the fee.

Cost: $63.00–$70.30 + HST per 2-week session (2026)

Registration opened April 27 at 10:00am in 2026 — about five weeks after the day camp, so it's a second date to diary, not the same one.

Lesson length steps up with level: 30 minutes for Preschool and Swimmer 1–2, 45 minutes for Swimmer 3–6.

These are open-water beach lessons, not a pool — worth knowing if your child has only ever swum indoors.

The Sydenham branch runs its own children's programming: Rhythm & Rhyme for the under-3s, an after-school STEAM club with games, crafts and robotics, and — best of all in summer — Stories at the Point, an outdoor storytime down at the beach.

A Christian overnight camp on Lake Wolfe with junior, senior, canoe-trip and day-camp options. The 2026 season has finished.

Cost: $425 (3 nights) to $1,695 (2-week teen program)

Day camp registration opens in January, alongside campground bookings.

2026 pricing was Jump Start $425, Junior Camp $850, Senior Camp $850, Explorer Canoe Trip $850 and Day Camp $200 a week including hot lunch.

A deposit holds the place — $100 for summer camps, $75 Jump Start, $50 day camp — with the balance due June 15. After June 15 it is full payment up front.

A small not-for-profit overnight camp on the St. Lawrence, going since 1936 — just 48 campers a session. The township's own day camp, run at three beaches — The Point in Sydenham, Gilmour's Point in Battersea and McMullen Beach in Verona. Eight one-week sessions across the summer, deliberately tech-free and almost entirely outdoors, with before-care from 7:30am and after-care until 5:00pm.

Schedule: Eight 1-week sessions, 8:00am–4:00pm, late June to late August

This is the one to set a reminder for. In 2026 registration opened at 10:00am sharp on March 23 and the township says it fills quickly with long waitlists — expect late March again and be at the keyboard.

Each camper is capped at four weeks a summer, and a resident/non-resident ratio is enforced, both so more families get a spot.

There's a bus: it leaves The Point at 7:40am, picks up at Centennial Park in Harrowsmith at 7:50am, reaches McMullen Beach at 8:00am, and runs back in reverse from 4:00pm.

The gentlest first-sleepaway format in the region: Monday-to-Friday overnight weeks on the Ottawa River, with a 4-day mini version for ages 6-8 and female, male and all-gender cabins. About ActivityScoop

ActivityScoop started as one Kingston parent doing what she apparently does best: reading every kids' activity website she could find and noting when sign-ups open. Eventually it made more sense to build the site we all wished existed — the inside scoop on kids' activities, programs and camps from Belleville to Brockville, from the big hockey associations to the studios you'd only hear about from a friend.

Browsing is free and you don't need an account. We don't take registrations or payments — when you're ready, we send you straight to the organization.

Privacy, in plain words

ActivityScoop is a directory you read, not a service you sign up for. No accounts, no profiles — and the little data we do handle is listed below, all of it. Last updated: August 1, 2026.

What stays on your device

If you use the age filter ("only want what fits your kids?"), those ages are saved in your own browser and never sent to us. Same for your saved list — the hearts live on your device, not with us. Clearing your browser data clears both.

Counting visits — only if you say yes

We ask first: a one-time choice at the bottom of your screen. Say yes and a visit-counting service tallies which pages get read, which activities parents look for, roughly which towns visitors browse from. It's statistics, not identities: no names, and addresses are anonymized. Say no and nothing is counted; the site works exactly the same. Change your mind anytime with "Cookie choice" in the footer.

The Sunday brief

Signing up stores exactly one thing — your email address — with the service that sends the Sunday brief on our behalf. You confirm by email first (that's the law in Canada, and also just polite), every issue has a one-click unsubscribe, and the list is never sold, rented, or shared. Ever.

Notes and suggestions you send

When you suggest an organization, report a fix, or leave a note for the next parent, we receive what you typed — plus your name or email if the form asked for it. A real person reads it and uses it to improve the listing, and that's the whole journey. Published parent notes never include contact details.

What we may share

Aggregate, anonymous statistics — things like "swim listings were viewed 400 times in July." Numbers like these may appear in reports or be shared with the organizations and sponsors that keep the site free for parents. They're about pages, never about people: nothing in them can identify you or your kids.

We never sell personal information. Not your email, not what you send us, not anything that identifies a person. This isn't a "currently" — it's the rule.
No profiles behind your back. Ages you filter by stay in your own browser, and nothing on this site quietly gathers information about your kids. If optional parent accounts ever arrive — for sign-up alerts, say — any child profile will be one you create yourself, visible only to you, and deletable in one click.
No tracking ads. No ad networks, no retargeting pixels, no "we noticed you looked at soccer."

Who touches the data

A few outside services do the plumbing — one hosts the site and receives what you type into forms, one holds the newsletter list, one counts visits (and only after you say yes). ActivityScoop is a free directory made by a Kingston parent, for Kingston parents. Using it means agreeing to the commonsense rules below. Last updated: August 6, 2026.

What this site is (and isn't)

We list kids' activities across Kingston & area and the dates that matter, then link you to each provider's own website to register. We never handle registrations, payments or waitlists — all of that happens directly with the provider, on their terms. We're independent: not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any organization listed here. Provider names and logos belong to their owners; we show them so parents can recognize who's who. Any provider can claim their listing, correct it, or ask us to remove it — hello@activityscoop.ca.

About accuracy

We check provider websites on a regular schedule and stamp every listing with a "last verified" date — but details change on the provider's side without warning, and sometimes faster than we can catch. So the site is offered as-is: always confirm with the provider before making plans or paying anyone. If something here is wrong, tell us and we'll fix it for every parent who comes after you — but decisions you make based on a listing are between you and the provider, and we can't accept responsibility for their programs, prices, schedules, cancellations, or anything that happens at an activity.

Using what's here

Browse, search, filter, save hearts, share links — it's free for families and always will be. Send a program page to every parent you know; that's the point.

What's not okay is copying the site itself. The descriptions, tips and guides are our original writing, and the collection as a whole — which programs are listed, how they're described, organized and verified — is ours too: © activityscoop.ca. Copying listings in bulk, scraping the site with automated tools, or republishing our writing or our data on another website, app or service isn't permitted without written permission.
